After That Day: Stories of Epilepsy

Photography: Karen Haberberg

After That Day: Stories of Epilepsy explores the lives of people living with epilepsy and the profound ways the condition can affect individuals and their families. Through intimate portraits and personal interviews, I wanted to move beyond the diagnosis and give people the opportunity to share their experiences in their own voices.

The project brings together 45 personal stories from people living with epilepsy, as well as their families and caregivers. The stories address diagnosis, treatment, relationships, stigma, independence, and the challenges of navigating everyday life with epilepsy, while also revealing resilience, strength, humor, and hope.

The resulting book was launched in conjunction with Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland Resort, helping bring greater visibility to a condition that is often misunderstood.

After That Day became an important continuation of my work using photography and storytelling to create greater understanding around complex medical conditions and the people who live with them.
