How to choose a professional photographer to market you? If you need images for your website, social media, or an ad campaign, finding the right commercial and healthcare photographer is important.

Here are a list of things to look for when choosing a professional photographer.

An understanding of your mission. You want to find a photographer that has an understanding of your company, asks the right questions, and makes sure to understand the scope and goal of the project.

Great verbal and written communication. Early discussions should include a timeline for the project, deliverables, and expectations. The more preplanning the more efficient the shoot will be.

The ability to work under pressure and accept high degrees of responsibility. It’s amazing how quickly the shoot day goes. A photographer should be able to troubleshoot while staying on time and budget.

The ability to work well as part of a team. There are many photographers out there, but you want someone easy to work with, that has a good demeanor, and is confident they can get the job done.

Technical proficiency. While everyone is taking photographs with a phone, photographing for marketing purposes requires skill and knowledge. The photographer needs to understand how to use light to create images that will stand out. How to frame and pose the subjects, angles to shoot, clothing and what is important to include in the frame. Experience helps.

Proper Equipment – Confirm that the equipment the photographer plans to use is sufficient to output files that you will need. For example, a billboard ad will need a much larger file size than if the images will only be used for social media. The file size is important and certain cameras provide larger files and better quality than others.
