Tips for a Virtual Photo Shoot

As a result of Covid and social distancing many people have been asking me about virtual photography shoots. Here are steps for a successful virtual photo shoot.

1. The subject will need to either be on a FaceTime or zoom call with the photographer.

2. It is very helpful if there is another person present to hold the phone or iPad up while the subject poses.

3. The photographer will give verbal cues on how the subject should pose and where to look, and then they will take screenshots of them.

4. A discussion of location, shoot time, and clothing prior to the shoot is very helpful. (I suggest at least one change of clothing during the shoot and have 2-3 different backgrounds.)

Please note, a virtual photo shoot does not replace an in person shoot with a professional camera but is definitely suitable for online usage during times like these.
