Duchene Muscular Dystrophy

Jamesy

Jamesy, 7, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that weakens the muscles. Shortly after his diagnosis, his father started JAR of Hope, an organization that seeks to raise both awareness and funds for research. Jamesy is also the first duchenne patient to treat his leg pain with ultrasound therapy, an idea that occurred to his father during a routine visit to the chiropractor. Jamesy loves video games, legos, and his stuffed animal, Freddy.

I don’t know what was worse: hearing what he was sick with or the fact that she reiterated time and time again there is nothing we can do for him. You’re expecting okay he is sick, this is the protocol, this is what we are going to do. Not even surgery, not even chemo, not even the strongest steroids. There is just nothing. Go home and love your son.

– Jim, Jamesy’s father
